Poshmark, Vinted or Depop? Why the same shirt can sell for very different prices

2026-10-13 · 5 min read

A rack of colorful secondhand women's clothing: a floral dress, pastel cardigan and blouses, a yellow sundress and a denim jacket

Poshmark, Vinted and Depop look alike at first glance: photos of clothes, a price, a buy button. But the same top can sit unsold for weeks on one and sell in a day on another. The difference is less about the item and more about who is shopping, and what they expect to pay.

Vinted: the closet clean-out

Vinted works more like a digital garage sale. Sellers pay no commission; buyers pay the shipping and a buyer-protection fee instead. That keeps sellers comfortable listing everyday pieces at very low prices, and buyers arrive expecting a bargain.

That makes Vinted a good home for basics, staples and pieces that haven't moved elsewhere. Higher price tags and luxury items often struggle to get attention there.

Poshmark: brands and offers

Poshmark tends to carry higher prices and more recognizable brands. Sellers pay a commission (20% on most sales, or a flat fee on low-priced items), so they often price higher to leave room for it.

Buyers browse sellers' closets, make offers and bundle items, so a moderate negotiation is normal. Listing at your lowest acceptable price leaves no room for the offer that's almost certain to come.

Depop: style and curation

Depop feels closer to an Instagram-style fashion market, with a strong lean toward trendy, vintage and Y2K looks. Styling, photos and a consistent shop aesthetic drive sales, and a well-presented trendy piece can earn noticeably more than it would on Vinted.

GoSell doesn't prepare Depop listings yet, but it's worth knowing where Depop fits when you decide where a piece belongs.

Match the marketplace to your goal

If you want a closet cleared quickly, Vinted's low prices and no seller fee are working for you. If you have a recognized brand and can wait for the right buyer, Poshmark's audience may pay more, even after its fee. If the piece is distinctive or on-trend, Depop may be where it's valued most.

Don't copy the same price to every fashion marketplace. In GoSell, your selling goal shapes the recommendations, and each marketplace shows an estimated range after fees, so you can see the trade-off before you post. These are general patterns, not guarantees; your item, brand and condition still matter most.
